I think back to when I first started this blog- almost a month after my 25th birthday. How much life and love and loss has occurred in the last 10 years. I lost my first real job. I moved to Texas and back. Was given the chance to be a part of a beautiful church and small group who welcomed me with open arms. I learned that money and a fancy title don’t mean anything if you don’t get the chance to share it with those you love. I’ve stood by my best friends as they’ve gotten married. I’ve had 3 jobs. I moved home and helped my mom get well and was able to be present with my grandma for the last few years of her life. I’ve fallen in love and gotten married.
I keep coming back to the moments. That my wish for 35 is to hold on and live life in the moments God has given me. Not to waste time dreaming about tomorrow or stay stuck in yesterday but just to be. To be present, to be attentitive, to be the best version of myself and the woman God has created me to be right now.
Today was perfect. In the midst of a world wide pandemic there was beauty found today. Homemade breakfast and birthday decorations from my husband. Driving a back country road listening to country music. Eating lunch at my favorite place and surprising my best friend. The day ended with presents, cake and dinner with my mom and husband. Days like today are the ones that you want to hold onto- the ones you fight like hell to preserve and treasure. Because these are the quiet, unassuming birthdays that one day will be the only ones you remember. The ones spent with the people you who love the mess out of you, eating homemade cake and celebrating. Birthdays are interesting - a moment in time to celebrate the year that has passed and a look forward to the year ahead.
Full of beauty and promise and wonder. Trusting all that God has in store for year 35.
